People are all at once disgusting, brilliant, loving, vile and radiant things capable of both filth and unspeakable triumph. The wrestling tension between this duality–yes, this paradox–is something so beautiful to behold, it’s hard to put into words.
When I think about what we lost, I think about the loss of several lifetimes of beauty. This was evil taking lives. This was lives left unfulfilled and this was loved ones left to fill the void. I’ll never understand it.
